Understand about different substances, their effects and how they might be used.

Understand about different substances, their effects and how they might be used.In my role as a social care worker i am coming into contact more and more with service users who have mental health problems who are also substance users. The reason for such dependency and their particular drug of choice is reliant to some extent on what their diagnoses is and what sort of effects they are looking for. If people are trying to block out negative thoughts and feelings they may be using a particular substance that can do this, such as for someone with depression they could be using a stimulant such as amphetamine which could give them a feeling of increased energy and euphoria that they may not have experienced for some time.

Probability is the likelihood that a given outcome will occur

Probability is the likelihood that a given outcome will occurProbability is the likelihood that a given outcome will occur. Probability is a useful tool in analyzing many aspects of business. Different experiments can be done to observe the possible outcomes and the measurement of the observations can be used to make business decisions. For example if an insurance company would like to determine the probability or likelihood that customer service representatives will be more productive when given more breaks, an experiment can be done to measure their performance on days when they are given more breaks and days when they are only given the required break periods. The probable outcomes are better performance, or not better performance. A measurement can be made of the probable outcomes and the insurance company can then make a decision as to whether or not it would be cost productive to provide extra times for breaks.

Essay on Privatisation of Water in India

Essay on Privatisation of Water in IndiaThe Indian author Vandana Shiva lists nine principles underpinning water democracy. At least two of these principles are directly compromised by the privatization of water. Point number four states "water must be free for sustenance needs.

Since nature gives water to us free of cost, buying and selling it for profit violates our inherent right to nature's gift and denies the poor of their human rights." The Rocking Horse

The Rocking HorseThe Rocking Horse
Having too much of anything is bad, but obsessing over it with your life is a decision that may haunt you forever. “Make money your god and it will plague you like the devil.” -Henry Fielding. D.H. Lawrence illustrates the same thing that this quote illustrated many years ago about money and materialism in his story “ The Rocking Horse Winner”. Let materialism consume you and it will control how you operate throughout life. Paul lets acquisitiveness get the most of him. At the end of the story Paul seems like a different person and it is as if he is the puppet and materialism is the puppeteer. Just like playing with fire will hurt you and the ones around you, materialism will do the same. Materialism distorts the things we care about most in life.
