Scientific Method

Scientific Method Part 1:
Katherine wants to investigate if the time of day a plant is watered affects the growth of the plant. She hypothesizes that a plant watered in the morning will grow faster than a plant watered at other times of the day.
Independent variable- The time of day she waters the plant. Dependent variable- The growth of the plant. 5 controlled variables: 1. Soil - you have to use the same brand and amount of soil to make sure one type of soil wont make the plant grow faster. 2. Amount of sunlight - plants cant grow without sunlight, therefore you have to put the plants next to one another in the same area to make sure they get the exact amount of sunlight each. 3. Wind - grow the plants away from any winds so neither of them grow slanted to the side and ruin the growth. 4.Temperature - the warmer the room is, the more water is evaporated, causing the plant to grow at a slower rate, therefore all the plants need to be in the same room, same temperature. 5. Plant type - use the same type of plant. Don’t do one watermelon plant and another a tomato plant.

0-14 Loading Systems Report

0-14 Loading Systems ReportAim and Objectives:
The report would show the importance and short comings of different loading systems in relation to the plan of the building O-14.
Introduction:
A load bearing wall gives a building structural integrity. It carries and distributes weight from the roof and top floors down to the foundation. Damage to a load bearing wall can cause floors to sag, finishes to crack and the entire structure to collapse. The external walls of your house are almost always load-bearing, supporting the majority of the roof weight and transmitting the load to the foundations. The internal walls of your house are not so easy to categorise. At least some of the walls will be load-bearing (except in some timber frame houses, etc) but some will also be non load-bearing.

Сold and Hot Packs - Formal Essay

Сold and Hot Packs - Formal EssayIntroduction

Hot and cold packs are used to treat injuries in the hospital to minor injuries at home. For example, cold packs are used to keep a patient’s body temperature down when they become deathly hot or to decrease inflammation in a sprained ankle. Hot packs can be used to reduce muscle spasms, muscle soreness, inflammation, and relieve pain. Since the demand for hot and cold packs is so great, companies like Dystan Medical Supply produce and sell cold and hot packs in large quantities. These packs are made by dissolving salts in water. When an ionic compound dissociates in water it either absorbs energy from the water or releases energy to the water. When the compound absorbs energy, it does so through heat energy. This is an endothermic process. An Exothermic process would be one in which energy is released to the surroundings. In this case hot packs are exothermic and cold packs are endothermic. In general a pack is created by using a plastic bag which has a compartment of water and a compartment of salt. The bag is broken and the two mix either absorbing or emitting heat. The amount of heat depends on the salt’s concentration in the water.1

“What Would You Prefer: A Man Or A Woman Boss?” Essay

“What Would You Prefer: A Man Or A Woman Boss?” EssayThe Time when women have to burn their bras to pay attention to their rights passed away. Nowadays, it is not surprising to have a female boss. Woman can supervise big companies, occupy high positions. Now it gives rise to the question: who is a better boss? Woman or man?
Think twice before making a decision. That is what women usually do. They are rational thinkers. They are responsible and consider the pros and cons before doing something. A typical female boss will not put her employees and company welfare on the line if she is not sure, that it will bring some benefits. A typical male boss is more inclined to take a risk. Some situations require making quick decisions, without thinking all facts over and then a man’s way of thinking turns out to be useful.

“The Gypsy Nuisance” Heinrich Himmler Essay

“The Gypsy Nuisance” Heinrich Himmler EssayThe “Gypsy Nuisance” written by Heinrich Himmler in 1938 reflects to an amazing degree the prejudice which was uncontrollable during the Nazi reign over Germany. The Nazi reign refers primarily to the practices, ideology and policies which were adopted by the National Socialist German Worker’s Party (the official Nazi party name) under Adolf Hitler between 1933 and 1945 in Germany (Melson, 2002). In their attempt at ethnic cleansing the Nazis killed approximately 6 million Jews, 200,000 to 500,000 Roma (Gypsies), millions of Soviet prisoners of war and groups the Nazis believed to be unworthy to live such as communists, homosexuals, people of colour, and those with physical and mental disabilities (Smith, 2008). They were also the cause for World War II where 60 million people lost their lives.

“The Gambia Is A Country With A Youthful Population Is This A Problem”?

“The Gambia Is A Country With A Youthful Population Is This A Problem”?The final problem of having a youthful population is educating all the children in the Gambia. This means in future life they can work in town and provide a more disposable income for the country. To make sure education is better in the Gambia they could limit the class sizes to 40 instead of 50-80 as this is ineffective and nobody would learn in a large class. They could also buy new resources such as pens and paper for the children to write with and text books to work from. The teachers could teach English language in the schools so they can communicate with English speaking tourists when they come to visit their city.
